Revolutionary War Days in Washington this weekend

The 223rd anniversary of the Battle of Kettle Creek will be celebrated this weekend in Washington.  This weekend is commonly known as "Revolutionary War Days" and if you come to visit during this weekend, you will see why.  Thirty historical performances will take place all over Washington, including the Fitzpatrick Hotel.  This year, the Fitzpatrick will be hosting "Betsey Ross" as well as a couple in colonial dress.

A parade will begin at 11:00 at the Mary Willis Library and will end at Fort Washington Park where a dramatic portrayal of the Battle of Kettle Creek will take place.  This is an incredible event with the participants in colonial attire.  At 3:00 pm, there will be a ceremony at the battle field that includes the Continental Army, Georgia Militia, Musket Volley and Wreath Presentations.  Our friends, Cilla Leed and Mike Tomme take part in this event every year below are some pictures that they took a few years back.  This is a wonderful time to come to Washington and experience what it would have been like to be in Washington during the American Revolution.

Sweet Erin Thomas performing at the Connely Gallery this Friday

Folk artist, Sweet Erin Thomas, will be performing at the Connely Gallery (across the street from the hotel) this Friday night, January 20th at 7:30.  Sweet Erin's cousin, Edd Lowe, who is a family friend, forwarded her website information to me and I really enjoyed hearing some of her work this past weekend.  Check her out at http://www.sweeterin.com/fr_sweeterin.cfm and then make plans to come to Washington to hear her in person!  Admission is free but donations will be accepted.

December Happenings

There has been so much that has happened in the last few weeks.  Our Re-Grand Opening and Ribbon cutting went so well -- thank you to the Washington Wilkes Chamber and Tourism offices that assisted with making that event a success. We had a number of people at the Open House held on December 6th and the evening of December 16th.  We really appreciate all the old and new friends that came out to see our facilities and visit with us.  We also want to send a big thank you to Killick Hinds (and his wonderful wife, Delene) who perfomed in the Talk of the Town space during the evening of open house. Killick sent me a download of his performance that I will make available on our website soon.

Merry Christmas from all of us at the Fitzpatrick Hotel!

Fitzpatrick "Re-Grand Opening" and Open House set for December 6th

As many of you are aware, we have made some significant changes at the Fitzpatrick Hotel over the last year.  Although I have posted pictures of the rooms in progress and completed here on the blog and on our facebook page, we wanted to have an open house so that everyone could see the rooms in person.

This Tuesday, December 6, we will be having a "Re-Grand Opening" ceremony with a ribbon cutting.  The ribbon cutting will take place at approximately 10:00am and will be followed by an Open House from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  We are also making plans to have another open house on the evening of December 16th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.  Please make plans to attend either one of these events.  We would love to show you around!
